Doreen Harris, CEO and President of the New York State Energy Research and Development Agency (NYSERDA), recently discussed New York's urgent need to deploy energy storage systems.
Harris said the state has been successful in supporting renewable energy generation projects, including the establishment of the largest community solar power market in the United States through the New York State Energy Research and Development Agency (NYSERDA)'s "New York Sunshine" program. "Of course, we know that we need to ensure the reliability and resilience of the future grid, which is why we believe that energy storage systems are indispensable for renewable energy construction. We are very pleased to implement a similar plan to expand the scale of energy storage deployment in 2025." At the same time, he expects the state's electricity demand to double by mid-century.
"Fire safety is particularly important to us as we deploy more battery storage systems in the state," said Georges Sassine, vice president of renewable energy business at the New York State Energy Research and Development Agency (NYSERDA), in a Q & A session with the audience at the webinar."
New York State is updating its fire codes through an interagency fire safety working group to identify and mitigate potential risks posed by battery energy storage systems. The working group has proposed 15 fire code updates and plans to hold a webinar on May 7.
Under the background of the global active promotion of carbon neutrality and carbon peak, the explosive development of energy storage system, as a key link of energy transformation, is a necessary stage for the energy field to move towards a sustainable future. With the rapid development of the industry, the security of energy storage system has become increasingly prominent, and has become a core issue to be solved in the process of industry development.
As a professional enterprise focusing on energy storage fire protection system, Sida has always kept up with the update of fire protection regulations with keen industry insight. In order to ensure a comprehensive and in-depth understanding of the technical requirements, test methods and evaluation processes of various fire regulations, the company specially organized technical backbone to participate in the North American installation specification training for energy storage system export. Through this training, technicians can accurately grasp the international cutting-edge fire regulations and standards, and lay a solid theoretical foundation for the optimization and upgrading of the company's fire protection solutions.
Based on the deep understanding of the mainstream fire protection regulations, Sasda continues to update and improve its products, and is committed to providing customers around the world with high-quality solutions that meet the requirements of fire protection regulations in different regions, ensuring that our fire protection systems can pass the acceptance smoothly all over the world, and building a reliable protective barrier for the safe operation of the energy storage system.
